A flaw has been discovered in Qualcomm's new phone chips. This makes it easier for hackers to hack smartphones, according to a Checkpoint Research report.
Qualcomm modems can be used to listen in on phone users' conversations, steal data, and conceal malware, according to the study. MSM can be hacked remotely via SMS, according to security firm Checkpoint Research.
The bug is currently affecting the mobiles of more Android smartphone makers, including Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, and LG. Researchers say that 40 percent of the world's population currently uses mobile phones with these harmful chips. Once hacked, they can unlock your data and SIM for their own purposes, listening to what you say and reading messages.
Qualcomm statement
Qualcomm has previously said in a statement that it has resolved the security issue. From December 2020 onwards, everyone is strongly encouraged to upgrade their phone via the security patch. Google has yet to issue an official statement about the Android bugs.
