One of the main reasons for these developments is pay-per-click advertising. With Google Ads and Google AdSense, Google entered the pay-per-click sector, allowing small-scale publishers to generate money online from their blogs. If you're upset by adverts on websites, here's how to disable them in the Google Chrome browser.

Blocking Ads in Google Chrome
Pay per click has resulted in the creation of millions of websites in recent years with the sole purpose of making money through adverts. While this is beneficial in terms of accessing information quickly, online adverts can be annoying at times. Previously, Google limited the number of adverts on a single webpage to three. With auto advertisements in place, there are no such limitations. Furthermore, you may become upset and frustrated if your browser displays a variety of auto-play video, banner, and pop-up adverts. If you're tired of seeing these digital adverts in your Chrome browser, you may block some of them using the methods listed below.
1. Disable Ads in Chrome Settings
- On your PC, open the Google Chrome browser.
- Click the three dots button in the top-right corner to access the Chrome menu. At the bottom of the menu selections, select "Settings."
- Scroll down to the "Advanced" section of the "Settings" page and click it.
- Select "Content settings" from the list under "Privacy and security."
- Scroll down and select "Ads" from the drop-down menu.
- Click and toggle the "Allowed" to turn it off if its status is "Allowed." This setting might be a little perplexing. As a result, make sure the option "Blocked on sites that tend to show intrusive advertisements (recommended)" is enabled. Chrome will now block unwanted advertisements on websites.
2. Disable Pop-ups and Redirects in Chrome Settings
The proprietor of a website may occasionally display advertisements in a pop-up window. You can block pop-ups and redirection in Chrome, much like you can block display adverts on content.
- Click the back arrow button near "Ads" when you're through with the "Ads" options.
- Toggle the blue "Allowed" switch to turn off "Pop-ups and redirection." The switch will turn white, and the option "Blocked (recommended)" will appear.
3. Block Ads with AdBlock Extension
The basic ad blocking setting on your Chrome browser will only prevent some of the adverts. Chrome extensions can be used to prevent even more advertising. AdBlock is the most widely used Chrome addon for blocking disruptive advertisements while browsing the web.
- Go to the "extensions" page in the Chrome browser on your system. Choose the "Open Chrome Web Store" link at the bottom of the three-line extensions menu.
- The Chrome Web Store's extensions section will appear. Search for "AdBlock" in the Chrome Web Store and click the "Add to Chrome" button once it appears. Confirm that you want to add the AdBlock extension to your browser and then install it.
- To configure the addon, click the AdBlock symbol next to the address bar and select "Options."
- The plugin offers extra functions under the "FILTER LISTS" section in addition to blocking unwanted pop-ups and adverts. You can, for example, disable social media buttons and other annoyances such as pop-ups and widgets.
- Close the AdBlock panel after selecting the settings you want to enable.
4. Adblock Plus is a browser extension that allows you to block ads.
If you don't like AdBlock for any reason, try Adblock Plus, which has similar features.
- Go to the Adblock Plus website in Chrome on your PC.
- To install the extension for Chrome, click the green "Agree and Install for Chrome" button. When prompted, click the blue "Add to Chrome" button on the Chrome Web Store page to add the extension to Chrome. The extension symbol will display next to the address bar on the toolbar.
- To modify Adblock Plus, click on the icon and select the gear icon. This will bring up the configuration panel.
- More customization options are available in the "General" and "Advanced" sections, as well as the "Whitelisted websites" area.
- Close the Adblock Plus tab, and you're no longer bothered by adverts.
